Practical Workdays

Practical workdays take place from 10:00am until 4:00pm unless otherwise stated. You do not have to attend the whole day but are welcome to stay as long as you are able. please wear suitable outdoor clothing and dress for the weather i.e. sturdy boots, waterproofs, and sun cream. Bring a drink and packed lunch.

Brockadale Brockadale straddles the River Went and comprises wildflower-rich Magnesian Limestone grasslands, floodplain grassland and ancient woodland. Help us undertake a range of habitat management tasks across the reserve. Workdays take place from 9:45am - 12:30pm. Meet in the reserve car park.

Moorlands Cut and burn Rhododendron ponticum, which has become invasive in parts of the woodland. Other jobs will include path, bench and building maintenance, as required.

Seata Quarry Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, this old quarry supports marvellously rich limestone grassland. Come and help us to cut and rake the grass in order to maintain its species diversity. Sherburn Willows This reserve contains wildflwoer-rich Magnesian Limestone grassland, fenland and a former willow coppice. Come and help us with a variety of habitat management tasks.

Upper Park Wood This attractive reserve is located in the scenic countryside of the Holme Valley in Kirklees. Come and help the local volunteer group who manage the woodland and grassland on this reserve. Please ring (01484) 651770 for dates. Located between Huddersfield and Holmfirth  
 Willow Garth As its name suggests, this reserve was once managed as a commercial willow coppice. The coppice has fallen into disuse, but we will be reviving this ancient practice and helping to enhance the site for wildlife.   Mar: 5th See map
