Potteric Carr Education Service

Potteric Carr has an exciting and varied education programme for both schools and community groups.  The programme is run by an Education Team comprising an Education Manager and Education Officer as well as several Education Assistants. We also have a classroom suitable for up to 35 children with toilet and hand washing facilities.  Larger groups can also be accommodated on request. We offer a full programme of activities for all age groups, linked to the curriculum.

Booking Information

• Group Size & Classroom Facilities - Activities at Potteric Carr are based on a group size of up to 35 children, although larger groups may be able to be accommodated on request.  Classes are generally divided into two teaching groups, each led by a member of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust staff or fully trained volunteer.  A classroom and toilet and hand washing facilities will be available to your group throughout your visit.
• Pre-Visits - All teachers or community group leaders wishing to book a school or group visit to the reserve need to arrange a pre-visit to ensure your visit will meet your objectives and our health and safety requirements.
• Access for All - We make every effort to ensure our reserve and classroom facilities are accessible to all. Please inform us if any of your pupils have special needs.
• Health and Safety - Potteric Carr staff and volunteers are fully trained to run education activities and have undergone an enhanced disclosure check and first aid training. Comprehensive risk assessments are carried out for all activities undertaken, and will be available to teachers at the pre-visit. Teachers and accompanying adults are responsible for the safety and discipline of their group at all times.
